LADIES SING THE BLUES presented by Better Way To Help featuring Janiva Magness, Danielle Miraglia, and Cheryl Arena

Janiva Magness
With Back for Me, seven-times Blues Music Awards winner Janiva Magness continues to renew and redefine her widely celebrated relationship with the music on a powerfully engaging, emotionally rich collection. Produced by her longtime guitarist and collaborator Dave Darling, the album is a treasure chest of lesser-known gems by well-known artists (Bill Withers, Ray LaMontagne, Allen Toussaint, Doyle Bramhall II, Tracy Nelson) and deep-dive discoveries brought through Magness’ voracious, wide-ranging searches for songs that connect with the deep feelings embodied in her voice and music, cherished by her fans.

It’s the 17th album for Magness, who in addition to those awards (including being named B.B. King Artist of the Year in 2009), earned a Grammy Awards Contemporary Blues nomination for her 2016 album Love Wins Again. It follows the 2019 publication of her memoir, Weeds Like Us, a vividly portrayed account of both the traumas of her youth (her parents’ suicides and her often-nightmarish experiences in the foster care system) and the hard-earned triumphs that have fueled her growth as an artist and in life, inspiration also found in her 2022 album Hard to Kill.

Cheryl Arena
Cheryl sizzles with excitement as she mesmerizes audiences with her sultry voice and powerhouse energy. She is a triple threat- a great songwriter, vocalist and blows harp like there’s no tomorrow…Hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, she began playing harmonica and immersing herself into the Blues in 1987.  Featured in the book, Masters of the Harmonica, Veteran Blues Harp Master, Cheryl Arena has been entertaining audiences across the US & abroad for the last 35 years and sharing her experience teaching harmonica lessons for over 20 years. She also runs a 5 day harmonica workshop entitled The Harmonica Experience, twice a year in Clarksdale Mississippi, down by the crossroads where the Blues was born.

Danielle Miraglia
Danielle Miraglia comes armed with a strong steady thumb on an old Gibson and an infectious stomp-box rhythm with tunes ranging from heart-felt to socially conscious that will move both your heart and hips. Her latest “Bright Shining Stars” debuted at #15 on the Billboard Blues Charts.  Cascade Blues Association calls it "... tough as rawhide, but smooth as blended whiskey."  She has opened for Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Bettye Lavette, John Hammond Jr., Joan Osborne, John Mayall, Sonny Landreth, John Oates, Taj Mahal, Colin Hay, Robert Cray, Rodney Crowell and performed side stages at events with The Black Crowes, Mary J Blige, The Indigo Girls and many more.
