Laugh-A-Palooza

Doors at 4:30. Show begins at 6:00
Laugh-A-Palooza is an event we are having as a benefit for Tupelo Music Hall Head of Security Mark Shamaly who was involved in a hit-and-run on the Everett Turnpike while stopping to assist another indivudal on the highway. Anyone who has been to the venue will recognize Mark. He’s the bald guy greeting you, bumping knuckles, and answering questions at the front door for almost every show we have. I know that many of you have become friends with him and will be distressed to hear this, as we were.
We are all essentially helpless in times like this, wanting to do something to ease the pain of a person that we care about. The Tupelo crew put our heads together last weekend and came up with an idea that will bring people together and raise money to help Mark cover expenses while he undertakes this rough healing time.
Laugh-A-Palooza will feature 6-8 comedians performing a night of fantastic comedy, including:
- Francis Birch
- Jason Merrill
- Matt Barry
- Kyle Crawford
- Kennedy Richard
- Joe Yannetty
- Chris Pennie
- Steve Bjork
When Mike Smith (the owner of Laugh Riot Productions who has been booking our comedy shows for 17 years) heard about Mark’s plight, he immediately went to work on this. Many of the comedians who play our venue came out to volunteer. It was so inspiring to see such an outpouring of love. I can’t thank these people enough for their support. All money collected will be given to Mark and his wife to help pay their bills. Our goal is to sell 514 tickets at $50. If we do that, we will give this kind man a 6-month period to heal without worrying about his bills. If you can’t attend the event, please consider purchasing a mezzanine ticket or two. If you can attend, that’s even better because we will be live streaming the event to Mark in the hospital to help boost his spirits and show him just how many people care about him.
I hope you can support this very important fundraiser. It would mean the world to us!
